ABOUT US

The Sexual Violence Outreach Program (SVOP) is dedicated to Breaking the Silence about sexual violence. In 2016, with the support of the Government of Nova Scotia's Sexual Violence Strategy, this program was developed with the guidance of the local Inter-Agency on Family and Sexual Violence.

We are located in Cumberland County, and we are here to provide counselling to persons aged 16 or over who have been affected by sexual violence. We provide inclusive, non-judgmental supportive counselling services for males, females, and the LGBTQ community.

We believe you and we want to empower you - if you have been sexually assaulted, it is not your fault.

This program is also for family members and friends of survivors. If your loved one has been sexually assaulted, it is normal for you to feel affected by the trauma as well. Please see our Supporting Loved Ones page to learn more.

*The Sexual Violence Outreach Program also offers free training sessions about services offered, responding to disclosures of sexual violence, and trauma-informed practice. If you are interested in arranging a training session, please contact us!
